Grindmaster Twin Digitally Controlled Precision Brewer

Although yesterdays digital brewer was a single brewer, the information here offers you the ability to compare what these two styles of brewers have to offer. They do have unique differences in there brewing processes.

The twin, digitally controlled brewer comes with two VS-1.5S Shuttles® and there stands. The VS-1.5S Shuttle® is a 1.5 gallon stainless steel insulated vacuum container that will hold freshly brewed coffee hot without additional heat for two hours. The following brew variables are programmable through the front display: Precise Water temperature during the brew cycle to +/- 1° F° during the complete brew cycle, choice of Three Brew Volumes, Pulse Brewing/Pre-infusion sequence extracts up to 20% more dissolved solids per batch of coffee. The Bypass Adjustment for large and medium brew volumes can program up to 33% of the total volume to bypass the coffee grounds. This does not affect the brew volume. The Low temp/No brew allows the brew cycle to only begin when the water has reached the optimum brew temperature. This brewer will brew 385 (5 ounce cups) per hour (140°F Δ T).

This model, PBIC430, can be built to have an electrical operation at 120 / 240V / 6600W / 28A or  120/208V / 5000W / 24A. Three (3) phase models are available on request. The dimensions of this Grindmaster PBIC430 brewer are 36″H x 22-1/2″W x 17-3/4″D and weighs 140 pounds. It has the following listings: UL, CUL, NSF and carries a 2 year warranty on parts and labor and a 4year warranty on the control board. These are the warranties; however, this shuttle brewer has been know to run many more years without any repair service.

Grindmaster Digital PrecisionBrew Shuttle Brewer PBVSA-330

This week covers reviews of commercial coffee making products. Today, the review is on the Grindmaster Model PBVSA-330, which is a single, digitally controlled brewer that comes with a classic 1.5 gallon stainless steel, air-insulated, radiant heat Shuttle. Brew variables that are programmable through the front display include the water temperature, the brew volume, the pulse brewing sequence, by bypass percentage and the low temp/no brew. The brewer will hold the water temperature to plus or minus 1°F during the complete brew cycle. The brewer has three brew volumes from ½ gallon to 1½ gallons. Each volume can be set by ‘teach” mode to eliminate trial-and-error set up. Pulse brewing, also called pre-infusion all the brew sequence to extract up to 20% more dissolved solids per batch of coffee. The bypass adjustment is for large and medium brew volumes; this programs up to 33% of the total brew volume to bypass the coffee grounds. Changing the percentage of bypass does not affect the brew volume. The low temperature/no brew allows the brew cycle to begin only when the water has reached optimum temperature. This choice is made by a program switch for on or off. The cycle counter counts the total number of brew cycles. All these brewing choices can be “locked” to prevent tampering.

In addition the brew baskets are automatically locked in- place during the entire brew cycle. The front panel will also note any water or heater failures immediately. A flared 3/8” copper water line is required with a minimum of 30 psi (pounds per square inch). In addition, an electrical shut off box must be installed close to the brewer. The hot water faucet at the front of the brewer can be used for tea, hot chocolate, instant hot cider or soup. Using this faucet does not affect the brew volume. Therefore, you can continually use the faucet like a hot water dispenser.

This digital PrecisionBrew shuttle brewer runs on a 120/240 volt option at 6600 watts and pulls 28 amps or on a 120/208 volt option at 5000 watts and pulls 24 amps. This brewer weighs 55 pounds, measures 28” high, 9” wide and 18” deep. It comes with a 2 year parts and labor on the brewer and a 4 year warranty on the control board. While these are relatively short periods of time, your Grindmaster brewer has been know to work well for many more years.

Today is Readers Opinion Day

I have thinking about adding novelty items. These novelty items would be connected to coffee makers and tea kettles. What are they? They are timers that you put on your counter. The ones I am thinking about are a percolator shaped timer and a tea kettle shaped timer.

They would be priced around $6 or $7. The timer lengths of time are on the bottom of each piece. All you need to do is pick them up holding the top and bottom and turning the top part to the length of time you want. It is that simple to use and can be used for any occasion and anywhere you want. The tea kettle is made of plastic and is 2 3/4″W including spout x 2 1/4″Diameter x 2 1/2″ High. The coffeemaker is also made of Plastic and is 3 1/4″W including handle and spout x 2 1/8″ at widest Diameter of pot and 4″ High.

Thanks for reading and thanks for responding. Mrs. Coffee

Happy New Year – Again

Hope your new year has started off well and I hope many of you received the New Years Newsletter. Since we are trying to go green, I will be adding a “green” coffee making equipment cleaner that is safer for you and the environment.

Green Magic is a one time run through with a pot of water and is all that is needed. No extra rinsing is needed for this product that will clean both the inside and outside of your coffee maker. It is simply an effective, all natural, totally non- toxic and certified carcinogen free product. Note: Click here to see a demonstration. Gone are the days of that slight vinegar taste after cleaning your coffee makers and then rinsing several times.

After Christmas Thoughts

Did you get what you wanted for Christmas? Was there something that you still want? Whether it was a coffee making product or not, you can still sit down relax for a moment and have a cup of coffee or tea. Hot cider may not be a bad idea either.

Christmas is over and it is time to think about the New Year that is coming. Or just relax and enjoy the moment. Whatever it is, it is always nice to know that your coffee maker can maker can make your coffee, tea or cider. Or can it? Did you know you could put a tea bag or two in you coffee maker filter and make great tea? Just check the amount of water you run through you coffee maker. Hot cider can also be made with you coffee maker. If you use a hot cider powder, put it in your carafe or mug and run the hot water appropriate for the amount of cider you want to make. Now, sit back and enjoy.

Winter Time Activities

True winter time is upon us officially today; the winter solstice. Many people, I know, feel they have ready had all the winter they wanted and more. And, the weather man is saying that there is more winter to come. May I make a suggestion? Once you are safely home and have had some dinner. Settle back in your favorite chair and read a book or listen to music. Both of these are more than listening to music and reading a book.

Both of these activities put you in another place, which allows you to relax more than participating in something that is high speed action. While you reading or listening to music, why not have a cup of your favorite tea or coffee by your side? Just take an occasional sip and you will be surprised how much better you will feel the next day if you get the amount of sleep you need as well. All you need is a hot water kettle or a coffee maker. For me at evening time, I believe an herbal tea is best. Enjoy!

Coffee Recipes for the Fall Season

Harvest Coffee Cider

  • • ¼ cup coffee grounds
  • • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • • ¼ cup brown sugar or honey
  • • 1 cup apple juice
  • • 3 cups cold water

Place coffee and cinnamon in brew basket of coffee maker. Place sugar and apple juice in the bottom of the coffee pot. Add water to coffee maker and brew. When brewing is complete, stir until well mixed. This recipe tends to be a little messy, so using powder DIP-IT is especially helpful when cleaning the stains off your carafe and brewing basket and for always attaining the best tasting coffee. For cleaning the water circulation system, use the liquid form.

Maple Harvest Coffee

  • • 1/2 cup of half-n-half
  • • 2 tablespoons of syrup
  • • 2 teaspoons raw sugar

Pour water into water tank of your coffee maker. Place filter and coffee in filter basket and brew. Place 1/2 cup of half-n-half and 2 tablespoons of syrup in a 10 ounce mug and heat for 30-40 seconds in microwave on 50% power. Dispense coffee into mug over heated mixture. Stir 2 teaspoons raw sugar, if desired.

Serves: Eight 10 oz servings

Spiced Coffee

  • • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • • 6 whole cloves
  • • 6 Tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • • Cream, optional

Let me know what you think of these drinks for fall.

Bunn Coffee Maker NHBX-W (White)

I have covered a number of coffee maker companies that have been in the business for close to 100 years. By comparison Bunn is a newer company that has been in the business of making coffee makers for over 50 years. The Bunn Company makes a large range of different coffee makers. This week I will be covering some of them. This reservoir-style household brewer is great for a small office as well. The Bunn Model NHBX-W brews up to 10 cups (50 ounces) of coffee in just 3 minutes. How does it do that? It pre-heats the water for 15 minutes before the first pot of coffee is made. After the first pot of coffee, make sure there is enough water in the reservoir for another pot of coffee.  Then, when you want the second pot the reservoir will  keep the water warm with 34-watt heater and internal thermostat that keeps the water at an ideal temperature to make the second pot in 3 minutes. This ability to make a second pot of so fast is why we add it to our commercial page. Another reason is its stainless steel water tanks 34-watt heater and internal thermostat that keeps the water at an ideal temperature. This coffeemaker is not a drip style, but is one that has a spray-head that improves coffee-flavor extraction. The 800-watt tank heater produces the ideal temperature of hot water that is perfect for making tea as well, while the 46-watt porcelain-coated warming plate keeps your coffee or tea just right for drinking as well after it is made. The sliding lid at the top of the reservoir at the back side of the coffeemaker makes it easy to add brew water. The ten cup glass decanter allows a clear view of your beverage and is dishwasher safe. After the last pot for the day just switch on the vacation switch and the reservoir will no longer pre-heat the water. You will get expert support and service from Bunn. After these 50 years, Bunn does know about coffee makers!

Unlike many coffee makers that come with a one year warranty, this Bunn model NHBX-W coffee brewer comes with a 3 year limited warranty. Be sure to read your warranty and paperwork before doing anything with the coffeemaker and you will be rewarded for it. The coffee maker comes with a 3-prong grounded cord, the glass decanter, filters, a coffee funnel and a de-calcifying tool. (If you have a white build-up (lime) on any part, especially where there is water, use this tool to get rid of it. It deteriorates the material of these parts.) This machine weighs 7.3 lbs. If live at an elevation more than 4,000 feet, put a “D” after the ordering number.
