Decanters, Airpots and Airpot Racks
Decanters, Airpots and Airpot Racks
We have all heard these terms, but how are they defined by the commercial industry. Decanters are for the most part glass coffee containers. When they are used for homes, we call them carafes or glass coffee pots. These glass coffee containers need a warmer of some kind to keep the coffee hot. For household use, some coffee makers offer a warming plate to keep the coffee hot with the coffee maker. For commercial purposes, single double and triple warming plates are available in multiple configurations when the coffee maker does not provide a surface to keep the decanter warm or the decanter needs to be in another place to serve the coffee.
Airpots are vacuum insulated thermo-glass lined containers that maintain the temperature of a hot or cold beverage for up to eight hours. Some have lever or push top to dispense the beverage. These 2.2 liter size airpots fit in airport racks that have a number of configurations and may or may include a place for condiments or a fresh coffee sign.
Airpots also come with a black push top or push lever or come with an orange push top or orange lever to denote either decaf coffee or another beverage such as tea or cider.
All 2.2 liter airpots swivel for convenience to the customer or user such as a waitress.
Last is a 3 liter size airpot. This size only comes with a push top and is used to serve coffee at a remote station or by a server at a large gathering.
