The History of Saeco International Group
The history of the Saeco Products is more about three men who had a vision and worked together to build a company that would fulfill the needs of consumers worldwide.
Sergio Zappella and Arthur Schmed, who were Swiss engineers created a created a registered company in Italy. They started their business with a proprietary name and then dedicated there time and energy to perfecting technology of the product. The result was a first fully-automatic espresso machine by 1980 under the brand name Saeco. They brought in third partner, Giovanni Zaccanti, who produced coffee machine parts. The following year they established Cosnec Inc. and with this technology, they brought all their manufacturing in-house.
With the business growing, they looked at options to go international. With “climate” and “steam” products in hand, they went international with a Dutch Parent Company, Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands who handles all the marketing. Zappella, Schmed and Zaccanti sit on the board of the Executive Committee of Saeco International Group.
Coffee Makers History Week
Hamilton Beach Manufacturing Company
Founded in 1910, the Hamilton Beach Manufacturing Company resulted from the partnership of Chester Beach, a mechanical inventor, L. H. Hamilton, a business man and Frederick Osius. Osius isn’t fond of his last name, so it isn’t included in the company name. There first product, made in 1911, was a commercial Hamilton Beach drink mixer used in soda fountains. Other products followed including the Sew-E-Z with electrlc motor in 1912, stand mixers (for making batter), fans, and hair dryers and a portable vacuum in 1925. In 1929, Hamilton Beach expanded with a Good Thinking Catalog.
A commercial spindle drink mixer was expanded in the 1930s to enable multiple milk shakes to be processed at once. In 1934 they received a patent for a manual juice extractor and introduced the third-generation stand mixer. In 1965, was the introduction of an electric knife with a hole-in-the-handle and a blade-release button. This design went on to win a National Housewares Manufacturers’ Association Design in Housewares award the next year.
In 1971, they introduced the ButterUp Popper for pop corn, followed by a HB blender being used in a hilarious Dan Akroyd skit in 1977 that many still remember to this day.
In 1990, Hamilton Beach merges with Proctor-Silex forming Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex Inc., headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. After the merger, the company becomes the largest manufacturer of small appliances in the United States.
Today, Hamilton Beach Brands, Inc. is a manufacturer of home appliances, air purifiers, and commercial restaurant equipment marketed primarily in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, including coffee makers, espressso machines, coffee grinders, and electric kettles.

Tuition, books, transportation to school, rent, utilities insurance and food were most important. Does this sound like you or close. There are possible solutions to your “rate race.” An inexpensive Toastess programmable coffeemaker that lasts a long time.
Happy New Year!!!
Hi, Everyone,
As always there are changes coming. But I thought I would start out the New Year letting you know about some of them.
Melitta has a few coffee makers, percolators and grinders left of the unique style that made disappear off the shelves faster we could keep them in stock. What few we got in after Christmas came with a notice they are discontinuing style. All they are saying at this point is that they are updating the style and the products themselves, which doesn’t tell us much.
Hamilton Beach is discontinuing some of its BrewStation models and adding some new ones. This will true with some of the other products as well.
If you are interested in a coffee maker or coffee that are currently on sale, I will be talking about the Good, Bad and Ugly on these products this week and the next. See you tomorrow!
Melitta Coffee Brewer – Gone
This Melitta Coffee Brewer is out of stock and discontinued. So, why am I writing about a discontinued product? The answer is an announcement of things to happen with the Melitta products. Melitta is making some changes in their entire line of Melitta products. When the present products are gone, they are gone for good. But, not the Melitta brand. They are going to update there products and create a newer style. Exactly what or how has not been revealed yet.
This is a warning, of sorts. If you are interested in any of the other products from Melitta you better get them now as they are going fast and the supply is shrinking.
